Films as simple as Ladri Di Biciclette simply aren’t made anymore. And so, I find it amusing for me to sit back and watch a picture that will not try to fool me in any way. If anything, it leaves me entirely rooting for the main character . Even though I wouldn’t normally consider this film as my cup of tea, it has fulfilled my demands as a film viewer in regards to acting, emotions, character development, drama and camerawork. In a nutshell, this film is straightforward, truthful and quite stirring.
You'll need some anti-depressants after that, i guarantee it. Great flick.
Quintessence of Italian Neorealist Cinema: brilliant portrait of post-war Italy (for post-war Germany see Rosselini's "Germania Anno Zero" (1948) of the same of year) and the best example of the drama that could occur in everyday situations, definitely worthy of a movie camera.
