A cute and sweet movie about mental illness, but also surprisingly nuanced in it's own way.
Paravail
A cute, lighthearted and enjoyable rom-com. Johnny Depp is delightful to watch as the quintessential manic-pixie dream guy, and Masterson and Quinn have a good on-screen chemistry. The characters are surprisingly nuanced, and the whole film is overloaded with early 90's kitsch. It's portrayal of mental illness is simplified and glosses over many of darker realities of living with such a condition, but if you're willing to accept the movie on it's own terms it will definitely make you smile.
