The filmmakers have attempted to make a modern-day adaptation of The Third Wave. This required some creative freedom on the writers' side, which unfortunately affects the credibility of the story. The characters and dialogs seem very staged. There is a clear expiry date (MySpace was still a thing). But most of all, the unnecessarily added dramatization have turned it into a teenage drama that loses all of its historic value.

Discovered this by accident a few months ago. Incredibly disturbing. The psychology of group-think and the horrors which it can lead to are in full display in this film.
