Second time watching and I chose the Director's Cut this time. And I've got to say, I much prefer it. Quite a hallucinatory experience.
Once again, this film held my attention throughout and just flew by. It's absolutely hilarious but also suspenseful and, at times, terrifying. Meshing comedy with horror can be quite a difficult task, so this film is obviously firing on all cylinders.
Visually stunning, better pacing throughout the director's edition, wonderful score, and a dreamlike atmosphere. All of these things add up to make a film that's really quite appealing despite what others have said.

Decades Exploration - Hooptober X
1992, Directors: De Palma
This movie has a promising first 20 minutes, I was pretty engaged on the edge of my seat. There are a couple of misdirects, like something that just happened turns out to be a dream, and this makes sense for a multiple personality thriller. But it seems like there is an onslaught of misdirection for like 30 minutes, and it just progressively made me not care about any of the tension because so much had proven not to matter.
The climax is pretty fun, albeit in a cheesy way, but I can enjoy that when it is executed well. Goddamn John Lithgow chews the scenery hard in some scenes though, especially the hypnotism(?) scene, and this is pretty cheesy in a bad way.
