Rocknrolla
A nice tribute to exploitation movies. A real post-grindhouse 'mexploitation' one.
Shot in style, delivering, worth seeing.

As much as some people may hate me for this, I think this movie delivers. I think it's quite good.
I had very low expectations with actors like Trejo, Seagal and the director Rodriguez. I generally do not like this type of movie.
After the first five minutes or so, I thought: "aargh, this is just as I expected, one of those lame over-the-top action flicks". But I was wrong. As it went on, this movie turned out to be one of its own kind. Its action sequences did not vary much from 'regular' movies of this type, they weren't even that good. It was the plot, some unexpected twists and good acting performances that separate this movie from the rest. But most importantly, this movies tries to avoid clichés and actually succeeds. It's in the 'business', not the plot, where clichés are usually most apparent and annoying. The business in this movie is tweaked and and times quite original; it really adds to the plot as each piece of business adds a little extra to the basic story. It still is a testosterone loaded hero movie, but with its own distinct flavour.
Unlike 'Crank', 'Die Hard 4' or any old Seagal movie, this one offers way more than a bad guy vs good guy action script. There is some character development other than that of our hero, There are twists which don't strike you in the face with stupidity or a crapload of cheese, because this movie's style and approach to the story matter are in perfect balance between seriousness and comedy or satire.
It is also one of the most enjoyable action movies I have watched in the past years. I was constantly wondering "what will happen next?"; usually, with action movies I am just bored like hell.
