Al Pacino was fantastic in this role. By playing Lefty Ruggiero, he proved that he's just as artistic playing an insecure, nervous, less aggressive man.

I dont understand the ending. Why the FBI agents felt they need to tell the mafia gang (including Lefty) about Donnie as an undercover agent? What was the point of them doing that?
