Homicide (1991)

Bobby Gold is a career cop who is reassigned from a hunt for a cop killer to the investigation of the murder of an old Jewish woman in Baltimore, and in the process finds himself exploring his own sense of identity.

Typical Mamet. Probably not for everybody but a delight for those who can wade through complex dialog to get to the heart of the sophisticated plot.

I agree. This is a very stellar film. It does not do many things that are new for the type of film it is, but I think the quality of the film makes that irrelevant.

Very noirish and very good. Not sure why it isn't on more lists.
