15 years later and this film still scares the piss out of me. Extremely unpopular opinion, but I consider this film scarier than the original. I liked Ringu, but The Ring instilled a feeling of dread and uneasiness throughout the whole entire film for me that the original did not. Even now I'm still on the edge of my seat, anxiously waiting to see what happens next. The background "music", the lighting, the subliminal messages, and oh god those sounds only enhance that fear.
The only real complaint I have is , and I couldn't help but find the kid incredibly annoying.
Otherwise I absolutely love it. It traumatised me as a kid, but now I enjoy the feelings of fear that it gives me. It's rare for a film to frighten me, so I cherish the ones that do.

I have to agree with everyone else here. Its not bad, but overproduced in comparison to the original.
