Hallelujah I'm a Bum (1933)

a.k.a Hallelujah, I'm a Tramp

A New York tramp falls in love with the mayor's amnesiac girlfriend after rescuing her from a suicide attempt

Thorkell

I thought this was a lot of fun. Loved seeing Harry Langdon in this talkie and Madge Evans is drop dead gorgeous in it. And yes, Al Jolson was good. The depiction of bums was very unrealistic but charming in a fantasy like manner. I liked the music, and the fact that it was unconventional and did not have catchy tunes. It reminded me of French musicals from the 30s.

Jimbo Slice

Bad rhyming distracted me from the patronizing plot and unsatisfying ending.

No memorable songs make for a lousy musical.
This curio was just plain tiresome to sit through.
