T-Made
Definitely the best sequel ever made. It has the style and substance of the first film, exploring Vito's back story from the novel and continuing the story of the Corleone family a few years after the last film ended. With powerhouse performances from every member of the cast, the film is certainly just as good as the first.

The main reason why it's called the best sequel ever is mostly because at its heart it's really a true continuation of the first film. It tells more of the story that you truly want to know more about and does it by showing you not only the present but also reaching into the past for the entire picture. I'm hesitant to say it's better than the first as in my mind they are both one film and neither can exist without the other.

While I'm quite happy to say The Godfather deserves its place in the list of greatest films ever made, surely Part II is over-rated! I like its basic structure, the rise of a Don (Vito as a young man played by Robert DeNiro) contrasted with his son trying to keep hold of his father's empire in changing times. However, it meanders way too much, especially in the first part. I thought there were some interesting ironies set up in the Cuban sequences, but Coppola never does anything with them. The case before Congress comes out of nowhere, even if it is one of the more interesting parts. Jokes about oranges (which were death's herald in the first film) come off as indulgent fourth-wall breakers. Didn't work for me.
