Feels like a Baz Luhrmann film as directed by Scorsese.
Beautifully mounted film, but soon sinks under the weight of cliches. Day-Lewis is fantastic, but unfortunately for the film, much more interesting and likeable than Di Caprio and his band of stereotypes.
The film also has very little in the way of historical accuracy or period-appropriate attitudes.
A very interesting time the movie brings, but the story is too much hollywoodized, with as always terrible consequences to the movie.. a regular one..
