Every now and then, somebody at Fox realizes that the X-Men franchise has the most amazing characters in the entire genre and f*cking DOES something with them. The last time that happened was X-Men: First Class (before they had to travel through time and shit). Logan is one of those moments aswell. Mangold and co have created a simple, linear narrative that puts beautiful work in builing the characters. All the rest follows accordingly. The result is a high watermark for superhero movies and quite simply an instant classic.

After the terrible Origins: Wolverine and the anemic The Wolverine I had given up on seeing the big screen really doing justice to one of my favorite comic book characters. Then Deadpool proves that somebody really has the balls to make a superhero movie that isn't a PG13 video game cutscene. And then they announce Logan, with an R rating and an Old Man Logan-esque setting.
Long story short: They nailed it. This is the definite Wolverine movie. Forget the other two Wolverine movies. Check out X-Men 1, 2, First Class and Days of Future Past with your kids if you like. But this one is a must see.
