El Santero (1956)

Zoilo Cajigas y Sotomayor is a carver of wooden models of saints. Don Zoilo is one of Puerto Rico's best-known artisans and was 96 years old at the time of the filming. The film shows the elaborate process behind his craftsmanship.

A summary of the prologue: when the spanish priests came they didn't have enough sacred objects for the worship so they got help from the rich creative invention of the natives. This costume is today almost forgotten because people prefer the gips objects that are made in industrial scale. The film then goes to an old artisan that continues to work with old techniques.
