A good movie. If there was something different about the story (that is, if there was less time shown about the dangers of being homeless) then I'm sure the Academy would have nominated Robert De Niro. It seems society still doesn't want to accept mental health issues on screen unless they're glamorised in some way.

Another good acting from Robert de Niro. Sad but a true story though. It helps you to check and see what is in your hand… and be thankful.

I have to agree with OldboyFTW's assessment of this movie. The movie is quite heavy from the beginning right to the end. This is due to its subject matter (it is in adaption of Nick Flynn's memoir) but also due the clever juxtapositions used in the movie (e.g. being down on your luck and being homeless/unwelcome).
I highly recommend watching this movie if you're ready to have a good sit down and are ready to think about what the movie is trying to tell its audience.
